Because sellouts=popular. They reach a larger audience due to radio. Then people listen to them, think it's good, buy their record. Testament are much better nowadays, but Metallica suck today. Testament haven't sold much due to they DIDN'T SELL OUT.

Just because someone has sold many records doesn't mean their good.
