Tupolev Tu-22 Blinder

Back

The Tu-22 was originally intended as a supersonic replacement for the Tupolev Tu-16 bomber. The design, designated Samolet 105 by Tupolev, was drawn in 1954, but the first flight of the prototype did not take place until 21 June 1958. The availability of more powerful engines, and the TsAGI discovery of the Area rule for minimizing transonic drag, led to the construction of a revised prototype, the 105A. This first flew on 7 September 1959.

It's the other way around. Russians were cheered on by Chinese(don't believe me, watch the part when the Russian sportsmen enter the stadium) You guys lost more than 4 planes in Irak.

I did watch when the Russians entered and it seemed quiet compared to when the Americans entered. If U recall the opening ceremonies were on the 1st day Russia invaded Georgia so tehy weren't real poulat. It really doesn't matter anyway, like someone said they were paid off anyhow.

In the 1st month of the 1st gulf war the US did not lose 4 planes due to fire. Since inception we have than four total, but Russia lost 4 (or more)in 1 week. Russia's claim is 4 but i've read other sources that it might be higher. I'll admit, I've only seen 4 pics though so I tend to believe Russia. I know of two US planes that went down in the 1st month. An F18 and if I recall correctly either an A-10 or F-16. That's nothing. especiaaly when you consider how many planes sit in the Boneyard.

Well, the Georgian air force was supplied by the U.S. and Ukraine. The Iraki airforce on the other hand was a pathetic force consisitng of old unserviced planes piloted by novice pilots.
I don't think we can compare the 2 wars at all.

Then you saw someting else.

I'll reply. What he said was overexagerrated but the point is that Georgian troops(trained and supplied by American experts) were destroyed in a matter of days. It's not like Russia had 1.2 million soldiers in South-Ossetia. Even our peacekeeping contingent which had about 160soldiers and 2 tanks, held until reinforcements came.

True, but did you hear how much more quiet it was when Russia was introduced? Even paying them off wasn't enough to make it equal.

Hmm,in a worldwide popularity contest,I doubt the U.S.A would fare much better than Russia.I can tell you this because I'm British, and we REALLY know what it's like to be unpopular.

I agree. I just that it was kind of weird considering that I thought the US was the looked by some to be the world's bad guy.

I can't find it.
