Working around Tigers- Big Cat TV

Back

A common misconception that people seem to have is that a tiger in captivity is tame or that they are friendly. Working around Tigers is a pod cast from 2007 in which which we went along side with long time former Big Cat Rescue animal caretaker Brian, as he explained a little on what it's like to work around tigers. Like people, tigers each have their own unique personalities. In this pod cast we will learn just how extreme some can be. Tigers are a very beautiful but deadly animal that are being wiped off our planet at an alarming rate.

Do you think bengal, sumatrian and south china tigers are gona be extinct in 15 years?
BigCatRescue (August 21, 2008 at 7:24 pm)
105km, sadly, it is possible. The time to step up the efforts to save the wilderness habitats for these magnificent cats is NOW. Each one of us needs to put serious effort into learning what we can individually do to support the efforts of saving and protecting their wilderness habitats. Can I send you some links?

I had no idea tigers can hiss.

That one sounded like my tabby cat's hiss magnified a hundred times.

Experts believe that there are two to three more times the number of tigers in American backyards than left in the wild. Only about 4,000 are left in the wild. I think it is a sad reflection on our ability to manage a planet when we have caused the natural extinction rates to rise by more than 1000%

is it true theres more tigers in american cages than in the wild the world over?
how do you feel about that?
BigCatRescue (July 15, 2008 at 10:31 pm)
Bu42day, that is what reports say. Personally, I find that very sad.
