I'd have to say that Phelps is a better all-around swimmer than Thorpe, but Thorpe can just tear Phelps to pieces in ANY freestyle race.

Since Thorpe retired these new "super suits" have come out. For the US "B" relay team to smash the world record is crazy enough, for the US team to then smash it by 6 seconds is superhuman and no way possible without these suits. You have a look at the records broken in the swimming in beijing at the olympics, I guarentee you most swimmers will be wearing this suit.
