Walk Test Mode with the SS-24 Horn/Strobe

Back

I just swapped out the MASS with the SS-24. The tone is set to 800Hz and the signal coding is set to continuous; however, during the walk test the panel does simple coding: initial alarm 4 sec, zone 1 = 1 sec, 2 = sec, etc. The main difference between the SS-24 and MASS is the strobe. Caution: The strobe in this video may lead to epilectic seizures. Note: This my personal fire alarm system please do not try this on any active public systems

when a panel is in walk test mode in a public building does it alert the fire department

Not sure if it does or not. The only way for external communication for MS-2/4 is if a transeiver card is installed.

I saw speakers that look like that added to a few Simplex strobe boxes and they are the same pitch. One next to the gym at Crotched Mountain school (Greenfield, NH) had one that looks like that. (not with a strobe)

That school is hooked to a Simplex 2001 panel. Sounds like it supports continuous and march.

That SS-24 is still a MASS!
Your MASS is actually a MASSADA because of the strobe. This is just a MASS without the ADA because of the strobe too.

The mall near where I live has this signal. If there ever was a fire at the mall, I would know what the horn sounded like.

That strobe would have to be flashing a LOT faster than that to cauze siezures.
