the palastinians dont have airplanes or chopers and big tanks, they bellive that their only wapon is their faith and they are willing to use it to defend them self, you must wake up and smell the coffey if they have airplanes they woldnt blow them self up, they would do just like the idf but the diference is that they would be defending their land and houses from european jews wanting to ocupie their land,

The command to sink the ship came from President Johnson. Paraphrased, he said: "I want that God damned ship at the bottom of the sea!" The initial attack was perpetrated by two unmarked aircraft but when they failed to sink the Liberty two marked Isreali aircraft were brought in. The Liberty wasn't sunk because a Soviet ship appeared and would have witnessed the attack had it continued. The plan was to blame Egypt, I believe, for the attack so that the US could become involved.

LIAR. Israel knew full well that it was an American ship, pleaseeee. More declassified reports came out in October last year about how the NSA had recorded audio of air command in Israel. The person on the other end kept saying "sink it" when the pilot said "it's an American ship."

Israeli terminates attack: Critics of Israel maintain that Israel intended to attack and sink the USS Liberty. Those arguing that Israel attacked the wrong ship point out that Israel did not in fact sink the Liberty, but terminated the attack...leaving witnesses and survivors. It remains unknown why Israel would begin to attack a US ship but then leave the Liberty afloat with witnesses aboard.
