...I don't think this version is half as good as the original...

I think this woman has a good voice but it's no where near as powerful as Yvonne Elliman and doesn't suit the song as well

Honestly, I thought Yvonne's voice sucked. I didn't think it sounded beautiful at all.

The melody of this song is almost identical - only minor changes - to the slow movement of Mendelssohn's violin concerto. Compare and reflect.

I've heard many different versions of the song, including the ones here at youtube.
This one is the best, thanks to the very gifted actress. Her interpretation of Magdalena's feelings is right on money. Remember - that wasn't a fine Lady. She was just a prostitute, who has slept with half of the Roman Legion of Judea..
So KUDOS to the Actress and Singer (actress part goes first, though the voice is also great)
