Seattle Quake

Back

Seattle sits on the type of ground that would amplify the effects of an earthquake. Scientists can't offer a firm prediction when the next one will happen...only the certainty that it will.

Funny thing is we were practicing an earthquake drill at school i believe i was in the 5th or 6th grade, the principal told us to get under our desks through the intercom, then the earthquake hit we all thought it was FAKE, i remember one kid saying "Damn!, these people are good!"

I was in 6th grade at Mason Middle School in Tacoma, and my friend and I were doing a mile run around the school in our PE class. Since I was outside I was able to see the street rolling like waves. It was crazy! It was also pretty loud, at first I thought a big truck was going by.

I was about 30 miles from where it happened and we had hardly felt it, Seattle felt it more because of the waves the earthquake puts out.

During that quake I was in my Grandma's house. She grabbed me and pushed me towards the door. She was freaking out. A bunch of glass cups fell out of the ccupboard and a mexican vase thing almost hit my Grandma. It wasn't that big though. It was 6.8 on the richter scale, but it 32 miles beneath the surface. I live in Pinehurst, Washington which is a 5 minute drive from Seattle.

I was in my PE class in Middle school at White River Middle School. I was in 8th grade. It was just before lunch then the earthquake hit. I had to get on the wall.
