If i remember right the JMSDF still wears the white uniforms and dark blue uniforms are what US Navy wears..but i may be wrong.

The greatest irony is that, Mirai is a Kongo class destroyer, which is the Japanese variant of Arleigh Burke class AEGIS destroyer, with such technology given to JSDF by Americans

So basically you are shooting American planes with a American ship - CIWS(phanlanx) is American, Seasparrow is American - it only shows modern American technology wins over 40's, that's all :)

This is not irony, because before being transported in the past, Mirai was doing training with US navy. That shows this movie is not about americans against japanese, this is about modern war and modern people way of thinking against people really involved in conflicts and educated with propaganda like those during the WWII (or today, maybe even in modern coutries): Japanese, American, French, Deutch... this was just the same for all. Nobody was a monster nore a hero, this is the point.
