they are leaving out "Non-Security Discretionary Spending"; a new category that was added around 04 to seperate 9/11 related expenses from normal defense operations.
Security Funding 549.6
Non-Security Funding 391.7
Total, Discretionary 941.4
If you add in the "Emergency Supplemental" it is another 104 million with an additional 108 proposed.
i was wrong, your math is ok, you should just check your sources.

You want to know why I do not support him? Because the entire state and defense budget including all earmarks, the wars, all bases, all foreign aid does not equal 1 trill. Give me a break. He will have to keep the income tax and he will have to raise taxes to pay off the debt.

the government borrows money to fund the wars and the empire overseas which consists of 700 bases in 130 different countries.
and the costs of the wars alone is over 500 billion.
The federal budget for the fiscal year 2009 is over 3 trillion.

you need to work on your math skills.

ronnie is sweet, but too old school
he would have been the best president ever like 100 years ago, but better then bush, or hil-dog, or maybe barack, but i think obama is step one on the trail to an idealistic socialist society

at least the obama supports know that he is a socialist. the scary thing is.. they seem to want socialism. *sigh*
curlyfry1106 (August 2, 2008 at 12:58 am)
no, he is in no way socialist
if he was, theres no way he would get elected
and a socialist economy would be the greatest thing that could happen
im pretty libertarian when it comes to social issues (abortion, gay marriage {but we should just do away with marriage all together, because it is a religious institution, and religion is retarded}, civil liberties, etc) but what exactly is wrong with a social economic society?

what's wrong with it?? because if operates on the priciple that government has the right to tax us even more than they already do to provide these social services. It isn't very libertarian when you say you advocate the government being able to steal my hard earned money to give to someone else. I think you have the terms confused.
curlyfry1106 (August 2, 2008 at 8:57 am)
money is stupid
how about everyone does out there and does their part, and all people are equally rewarded?
do you think the ceo of a major corporation works any harder than a single mother who works two shifts as a nurse who gets paid minimum wage? how about everyone is truly equal
capitalism says if you work hard, you will be duly rewarded, and i think that sounds kinda nice. unfortunately, the world doesnt work that way
socialism says do your best, and you will be rewarded with equality

Entire defense budget, including both wars and all bases: 572 billion
Entire state department budget, including international programs: 50.6 billion
Earmarks: 25 billion
That still leaves a little over 300 billion short of 1 trill. He will have to end Social Security or Medicare to come up with that number.
