Merle Haggard "America First"

Back

Emerging from prison in the 1960s, Haggard was one of the early innovators of the Bakersfield Sound. With his hard biting electric guitar, he almost singlehandedly introduced the electric sound to country music. By the 1970s, he was aligned with the growing outlaw country movement, and has continued to release successful albums through the 1990s and into the 2000s. His work in familiar country themes -- jail, betrayal, drinking and wandering -- include a directness that reflects his own life experience. His deep, grumbling voice and his guitar work gives his country a blues-like quality in many cuts.

Don't you just love Merle Haggard. He really does tell it like it is. There are no airs or putons when it comes to Merle. Name me another country singer who pisses off liberals and conservatives in the same song. The fact that he pisses off conservatives and is so respected by his Nashville peers is just what endears him to me. Imagine the impact he could have made in LA or New York?

because it is political, and radio don't play the legends of country anymore.i think merle is recording on his own label now.he likely doesn't want to pay radio to play his music too.

Unfortunately, Americans come last. 1 Billion for the rebuild of Georgia for a 2 week war?
Fuck you George Bush!

It may be a lot of money, but you've forgotten about few important factors. First - Georgia, as any other country, deserves freedom and liberty. And America is a guarantee of world's freedom. So if USA lost reliability as a freedom keepers, many evil and band countries (like Russia) would have felt encouraged to realise their private interests all over the world. So helping Georgia USA shows that they still stand for freedom and anyone messing with democracy is messing with USA.
