The Faces - Maybe I'm Amazed

Back

Really rather glorious, this. Rodlington Stewart with Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones tearing the arse out of Macca's 'Maybe I'm Amazed' in 1972. Marvellous as the original is, this really has something to it.

This is a supergroup before they had supergroups. So natural such good musicians and great quality on this jam both phonically and visually.

wow - something incredible about that sound, and puts my faith back in Mr Stewart too!

Thanks for the reminder. Looked it up, however, found out "Maybe I'm Amazed" was written by Paul McCartney and was first released on his McCartney album on April 17, 1970. Wings wasn't formed until well over a year later in August 1971.

Great bluesy voice of Rod Stewart perfectly applied to this beautiful classic song. It sounds different from Mc Cartney but it works.

This performance is decent although it doesn't even come close to McCartney's. Rod's voice is a great voice for certain songs only. This is not one of them. Throughout the song he manages to get the lyrics wrong and cannot reach the high notes that makes the song. Leaving the instruments to fill the voids. I rated it three stars.
