There was a French knight that actually got pinned to his horse by an English arrow at Agincourt. It entered through his hip. Incredible.

speed is too variable as you're up against cavalry and infantry, also speed is fully effective on the true horizontal, otherwise it helps the glancing effect of armour...
and yes different arrow heads do have different effects, however, at crecy the english faced milanese mercenary cavalry, with fully barded steeds, meaning you cant use horse stopping heads, you need to use lighter chisel heads, but still valid point, perhaps a little specific for the test though.

the armer test didn't take into acount the speed at which the soldier wearing it would be coming towards the enermy.

i think the archers were only use for taking out the small infantry the chainmail the knights would have been taken care of by the english infrantry and the english knights aswell

so, they're not taking into account that 1) the bows found on that ship were alla above 140 lbs, some over 200, 2) that there is a reason for the long-range shot and 3) that different arrows have different results. Front-heavy arrows gain a lethal terminal velocity at the distance. conclusion: the bow is most dangerous at very long range and very close range. this is also explains history better than what we are seeing here.

after seeing this demonstration of the arrows, i can see why the english longbowmen target the horses. not to mention why richard the lionheart preferred the crossbow over the longbow during the crusades.

150 Foot-Pound of Force = 200 newtons.
Common longbows in the hundred years were at Over 370 Foot-Pounds or 500 newtons.
Some Bow took many years to make

only the kings and high nobles would of worn alot of plate, (Full harness of plate introduced around 1400 - 1450)most had chain mail or a coat of plates. And you would of thought that they would of sharpened the arrow a bit more, what grade steel was the arrow by the way??

there's very few who can pull warbows that strong....nowerdays. the bows were so strong they had very little timeto aim. they pretty much let go as soon as they pulled it back

many englishmen had deformed shoulder and arm muscles from a lifetime of practice with the longbow. shows how good they were even with a heavy bow!
