This is a trailer for our independent investigative documentary on Latvia today, as the holiday brochures will never tell it. Inspired by our personal encounters, as a returning Latvian citizen and first-time British visitor; who ended up on the front page of the national press after writing an open letter to Latvia's president in 2005.

Corrections: The subtitle 'The fight for Latvia goes on.' should read '...went on.' The figures for those no longer able to vote is now 20% not 30% - many of those unable to vote emmigrated from Latvia.

Any educated person will know archaeology is continually developing. Axes have now been discovered in what is now England from 500,000 years ago. Latvian nationalists still boast pride for the first people arriving there in boats arriving in the Batlics 9000 years ago.

lol, it's been a while since I stopped wasting time on this "discussion".. but today I passed by and read a few comments on the top.. lol.. girtkaz.. Poles from Latgale didn't fought for Latvia.

Fight for Republic of Latvia at first was fight against Communists, against Red Army.
This fight started from Liepaja, Kurzeme which is situated far away from Latgale.
So Latgale was free only at 1920.

About Polish.
Help was given by Republic of Poland, which like Latvia fought for independence against Soviet Russia. Poland sent 20 000 big army to help in fight for Latgale.

Not to conquer as you said before.
