Are they all black belts?

yes I learned basic Pressure points when I was a blue belt. Then went into more depth in the Black Belt Lvls , Not all Hapkido is the same. Their are many styles just under the name of Hapkido , I have found that some teachers will stick to what they teach best. So yes you can learn it in Hapkido but make sure that the style you pick to learn does and at what lvl do they start it teach it.You maybe better to look up someone that just teaches pressure points.

I would have hoped that a martial artist with 38 years experience would be more open minded and display more humility.

actually the one who founded hapkido is Jae Nam Myong believe i know im a black belt in this martial art and have been taught about his history and hankido ishankumdo is the same as hapkido pretty much there three initials are all HKD

Sorry, but you are mistaken. Hapkido was founded by Choi Yong Sool. His senior students like Jae Nam Myung and Ji Han Jae assisted in the process to varying degrees. Hankido & Hankumdo were developed by Jae Nam Myung from Hapkido. Hankido focuses on the dancing forms & circular technqiues in Hapkido which were a favorite of his. A lot of incorrect hapkido history is passed down by teachers who either don't know the truth or who want to build up the reputation of their school.

hapkido didnt copy from aikido, it was a korean dude who made hapkido, and the japs came in korea and took the dude, and asked him to teach them hapkido or they were guna cut his hands. he did teach them with a jp name so... everybody thinks that hapkido is a copy of aikido, but thats not.

HKD was developed by a Korean, Choi Yong Sul. As a child Choi, Yong Sul studied Daito-Ryu Aiki Jutsu with Sokaku Takeda. Choi started life with Sokaku Takeda as his houseboy and later became his manservant. It is because of this position he was always on hand at training sessions. After Sokaku Takeda died Choi left the service of the Takeda Clan and returned to Korea and eventually developed HKD.

Hapkido comes from mostly Aikijutsu, but takes techniques from several different ancient Korean martial arts.
