Andy Van Hellemond a bad referee? Sure he made a bad call about Sakic's goal but he was ranked the best referee for 14 years in a row and he's in the hall of fame. Sure he lost control of his games sometimes but he had a "let the boys play" attitude similar to other old time referees like Bruce Hood, Bob Meyers, Bryan Lewis, etc.

I'm a Canadiens fan, but Nilan was cheap shot artist...he couldn't leave well enough alone and had to get one more in before he left. But yeah, you don't see the kinda hockey much anymore

I seen Miller lose some and win some,he clutched and grabbed too much,more of a brawler than a puncher.He was a real strong guy and was at his best in close.I'll never forget Kordic pounding him in the 86' playoffs though
