Also when standing on the left side of horse applying the bridle, always put the bridle over the far right ear with your right hand first then the left ear. You'll find yourself having far less problems finishing the bridling if the horse decides to move his head or misbehave if the the far side is already fitted.

A few things wrong with her message.

Dont ever squeeze the tendon area to get a horse to lift his leg. Bad advice! Pinch the chestnut, scratch the front of the cannon or the back of the sesamoid with your fingertips, but dont ever squeeze the tendon.

I have horses trained to lift their leg on voice command.
Beware that the horse doesnt step on the martingale while its dangling down by his feet. Better to lay it over the neck until ready to run through the girth. Always think safety.
