Australian Rules Football - Collision.

Back

This is part of a series of short videos illustrating various aspects of Australian Rules Football.

Keeping your eye on the ball in Aussie Rules can sometimes lead to heavy collisions. In this video we see Carlton's Matthew Lappin collide with Melbourne's Nathan Carroll during a marking contest. Both players were watching the ball prior to the collision and both were concussed. Fortunately neither suffered serious injury.

great courage and smarts by Lappin, he knew he was going to get hit, but he kept coming, and had the presence of mind to protect his body at the last second.

Sav Rocca could have taken that hit without pads and just gotten up afterwards.

agreed, but you can't exactly play on when you have no idea where you are...
and both teams had a fit player to take over the one who got hit, so why not bring them off?
