The Datalink the JAS also have enables all other JAS in the area to see the detected F-22 even if they are out of range for their radar. With these comments i´m trying to prove that JAS have some qualites over F-22.
But the F-22 is a great plane. It´s almost best in everythng, and thats what make it expensive.

your right it does have some great qualties and i think its an awsome plane but as shown in world war 2 quality always wins in the air thats why britian beat germany in the air and german piolts slaughtered the russian piolts. the f-22 has quality on its side and that makes all the difference.

The F-22 can carry more missiles, has more armour, has stronger engine, so yes it´s superior in almost all aspects in comparison to Gripen, but its also larger and heavier. Guided missiles has made aircombat much more diffirent. The more aircrafts you can bring to the battlefield increases the chance to be able to detect hostile aircrafts and groundforces. So one F-22 against three Gripen equiped with fairly efficient radars and laser-guiden missiles could have better odds against it.

Thats WW2. But today there´s other rules. Guided missiles and superior radars has made aircombat much more diffirent compared to WW2. It´s all about detect, lock-on and fire the missile first. Thats why stealth is a good advantage. But radar-systems of modern time tend to be good aswell. That´s no exeption on Gripen. So the key success of the F-22 is if it can keep itself undetected, which is not a guarantee with todays stealthtechnoloy. However 1vs1 the F-22 would just eat Gripen to breakfast.
