I agree. Thankfully, Sweden and the US are on friendly terms. :)

4 raptors vs 40 gripens would be to easy?
LOL. U R dreaming mate.
BTW, Low-frequency radars do have the capability to detect stealth aircraft, including the Raptor. (Aviation Week & Space Technology). No aircraft is immune to being found and shotdown. Not the gripen, not the raptor.
jayers2 (October 12, 2008 at 7:31 pm)
That is very true, but the Raptor is much harder to detect. But yes, no aircraft is 100% undetectable.

radar guidance systems don't work against the raptor. They'd have to saddle up for a gun or heat seeker kill. When the raptor can target you from bvr (beyond visual range) at >100 miles its hard to do that. 4 raptors v 40 gripens would be too easy unless gripens have anti-radar counter measures which are rare especially for any missile other than a soviet variantthis along with the fact they don't show up on radar makes it hard to get in range for heat seekers or guns. also the raptor is faster.

Yes, Grippen is international, btw.
Countries that use them: Sweden ofc,
Hungary, Czech Republic, South Africa, India have bought them. Countries which will probably be purchasing them in near future include Norway, Poland, others.
Saab Grippen is also competing with aircraft by Boeing, Lockhead Maritin, & Dassault to be purchased aircraft to be purchased by: Austria, Chile, Brazil, and Phillipines.

We have them, but nobody said we use them :D
We're a peacful country... for most of the time.

Additionally, a new development of Saab Grippen program is the new towed decoys they can employ. So the missiles shot by your F22, if the traditional countermeasures did not get them, many would hit the towed decoys, instead of the Grippen itself.
Thanks for playing.

5 Raptors could down 20 of these under BVR within 20 mins? Dream on!
Ever hear of countermeasures?
LOL
Soz, but just because it is American, does NOT mean it is the best. Every fighter jet has strengths and weaknesses. There is no fighter jet that is the best at everything.

Why do they love delta wings?
Delta wing is advantages because it.
1. wing's leading edge remains behind shockwaves generated by supersonic speed (improvement over traditional wings.
2. Delta wings allow them to be built much more strongly than traditional/swept wings, allowing them to tolerate strain of Gs better, giving room for xtra fuel instead of reinforcing the wing.
3. Gives the aircraft a very high stall angle (higher than in non-delta wing configs)
