Unfortunately, fear seems dominate in modern society as well as insecurity. As for cruelty and religion going 'hand in hand,' making a past reference to the Crusades really isn't legitimate ground to base an argument. Sheep are easily mislead by black sheep, wolves dressed as sheep, and false shepherds. One sad human factor is that we corrupt nearly everything that we come in contact with. To blame religion for the disease and fear is like blaming a gun when someone is shot.

I am interested to know what this 'unreasoning love' you speak of is. The God I worship and love is omnibenevolent, omnipotent, omniscient— perfect. How, in any respect, is loving such a God unreasonable? And how, in any respect, is my love helpless? for I think, I reason, I process an intellect; how can I or my acts, then, be called helpless?

It is time for the reasonable adherents of all faiths to find the courage, will and stamina to reverse the tradition that honors helpless love of God — in any tradition. Far from being honorable, it is not even excusable. It is woefully shameful. There is only one way to respect the substance of any purported God-given moral edict. Consider it conscientiously in the full light of reason, using all the evidence at our command. No God pleased by displays of unreasoning love is worthy of worship.
