Glengarry Glen Ross speech

Back

Surprisingly good acting by Alec Baldwin. I actually had a sales manager that played this for us as 'motivation'. He was fired within a year.

Yep, this is an awesome movie. And what a cast!

I'm really glad that the sales manager mentioned in the info was fired... :-)
I bet he also really, really liked Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) in Wall Street. And had read "The Art of War" a hundred times...

anyone that doesnt understand why he comes at them like that doesnt understand jobs where high stakes sales are a way of life.

I"d be telling a boss like that to go fuck himself...and I HAVE told bosses like that to go fuck themself. Motivation like that does nothing for me except get me UNmotivated.

Alec Baldwin done an excellent job at acting here. Watching this scene pissed me off enough to remember bosses I"ve had in the past.

That's probably b/c you don't mind losing your job. In the case of these guys, they have mouths to feed at home (Jack Lemmon's daughter is sick at the hospital) and can't afford to lose their jobs.

Oh thanks for clearing that up, jp3813. I"ve never seen this film before...but after seeing Brandon Hardestys (ArtieTSMITW here on Youtube) re-enactment of this scene and then watching the actual scene, it has definately peaked my interest.

well, I think that depends on the employees' situations... and these seem to be dependent on their jobs...

but anyway, I would not accept such behaviour from him...
