It reminds me the time of a brazilian radio which was very nice in the eighties and nineties, transamerica FM. The thing is that I used to hear this song right to 1996. It was fucking cool. The worst part is that we haven't had good musicians and, consequently, good songs lately in the whole world. So, let's fuck media up!

My favorite part of this song is how he says "it's a long way down when all the knots we've tied have come undone." I don't know why, but it really strikes a cord with me.

Maybe you weren't really listening to the lyrics: he's saying, like devilcat66 said, that he'll always be there for her, that he'll stand behind her unless he sees that she's making the same mistakes that he has (i.e. "anyplace but those I know by heart"). It's a sweet song about love and loyalty, not "stalking". Look up the lyrics, they're good!

This song rocks!

It may seem that way if you don't look any further than litteral meaning.
When someone dies, they don't actually "kick the bucket".
"Follow you down" Doesn't necessarily mean he will litterally "follow" or "track down". And follow could mean to stand behind, to support. As in, he means to say that "wherever you go", I'll be here behind you for support.
Ever think of that?
