yep only a GSM service will work on the iphone no CDMA service will work and CDMA os only realy used in the USA anyways most the world is on GSM as its a lot better than CDMA

in the UK you can some times get Free pay as yopu go simcards from the phone companys if you go online u dont pay anything is that the same in the USA if sow you could switch to a GSM company
