What the hell is this shit? Damn good thing that they eventually came up with what they did, this is just terrible, in every aspect. It's just wrong. The only good thing is at about 8:51, nice shot.

What's great about this fight scene is it really splits Kirk and Picard. Soran fought Picard, Picard got owned. When Soran fought Kirk, when Kirk fell off the cliff, Soran was thinking Who the hell was that guy? :)

i remember going back home after seeing this movie...and i felt nothing but discust. the death of Kirk was completly pointless to the story. and both death scenes follow by a ''funny'' moments. (holodeck, Data's cat) and your right. i wasnt even againt killing Kirk at the time. i remember thinking how that was going to happen ''this is going to be great!'' the tourch was passed but it went cold. to me Star trek died with Kirk

not only does the real ending have Kirk die in a bad (bridge) pointless way (to the story) it also shows Picard in a weak way.
1) he doesnt use the nexus to stop Soran before he even gets to the planet (saving the Enterprise and making Kirk's death unnecessary-read pointless)
2) he cant fight Soran
3) he doesnt use the nexus to save his family AND stop Soran before he gets to the planet.

Kirk died and Picard could not save him. 2 captains look bad.

Damn right! Picard never would've shot an unarmed man, and even is he was armed he probably would've shot Soran in the arm or something.
