It's been the first major battle of the Vietnam War...and the 7th Cavalry went to kick some communist ass! Under the leadership of Lt. Col. Hal Moore and M/Sgt Basil Plumley, the 7th fought a three-days-battle on Nov, 15th, 1965, killing more than 800 VC's and showing the NVA that the US Army was finally on the field.

Garry Owen. First adopted by George Armstrong Custer after hearing several of his men singing this lively Irish drinking song. Thinking it was a catchy tune, he adopted it as the official song of the 7th US Cavalry.

That is the official anthem of the 7th US Cavalry. It's called "Garry Owen".

from the Grt Grt grandson of a trooper in the 7th at LBH god bless all to the men of the &th from garryowen to glory never got a chance to go to the 7th wound up airborne instead but we have a fine tradition also so bless all who serve in any branch or place of duty
