Virgin Galactic unveils spaceship

Jan 23 - Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic showed off models of a spaceship it hopes will take spacetravel mainstream. Trips will initially cost about $200,000 and will eventually go down in price. That's far less than the $20 million reported cost of businessman Dennis Tito's trip on a Russian spacecraft in 2001, considered the first space tourist. Bobbi Rebell reports.

This really is paving the way for the new breed of space craft. PUT NASA to shame guys and good on you! Nasa seem to think strapping a plane to a huge rocket was a good idea... untill they lost 2 of them. Cant wait to see the first flight - Ground breaking folks, not a fucking joke like half of the comments on here.

u need to do the math man a fucking vacume tunnel from nyc to paris would take all the gold out of fort knox or some shit like that. you know how much money and time that would take. if richard bransons rich ass wants 2 go to space let him. we need stuff like this it will help improve are technology. ima laugh when the aleins come bomb ur ass and im on the moon haha.

for some reason their design doesnt look practical, i mean does anybody know how many heat shielding tiles have to be on there for re-entery. I mean come on look at it, is this a joke, I meann damn give me a few million and ill desidn you a real spaceship.

Well kimmel310, if you knew much about space travel or the ansari prize and Virgin success or about their first ship you would then realize that with that design the ship doesn't require heating tiles. It is light enough and the atmospheric entrance surface area is large enough that the ship doesn't burn up on re-entry like NASA's heavy shuttles. I would hope you never get your hands on the money to design and build your own ship. I'd file a lawsuit on attempted murder.
