Hey I've noticed that professional players' drop shots land near the line. Why don't they hit drop shots closer to the net?

Depends on the situation. The ones they play may land closer to the service line, but they are much faster. While slow ones may be able to move the opponent out of position, their slowness allows for an easy net kill if the opponent anticipates it
