Milton Friedman - Greed
BackIn his book "Capitalism and Freedom" (1962) Milton Friedman (1912-2006) advocated minimizing the role of government in a free market as a means of creating political and social freedom.
An excerpt from an interview with Phil Donahue in 1979.

Okay I can't argue with you because you keep jumping around. This was an argument about the commons and the virtues of private property. You posted a list that proved my point and how you spout off facts about health care. On this list France, Germany Canada, Sweden,Columbia, Latvia, Austria all have right of center governments right now and are economically deregulating. America has the most progressive taxation system out of all of them as a matter of fact.

LOl. Many of these countries are social democracies and welfare states. Almost all have fee health care for there citizens. If you think these are modern "capitalist nations", great. We have nothing to argue about. I would say most conservatives in the US would rather move to the Chinese model.

Yeah a bunch of modern capitalist nations with private property rights. Which of these countries is a socialist nation. The closest you can get is maybe Sweden but wait they were capitalist for decades and they have property rights and a very low progressive tax rate but a high consumption rate. In none of these countries does the state run the economy. Heck Finland's economy is less regulated then the USAs same with Latvia. Ha keep it comming

The reason that the majority of pollution in the USA comes from private industries is becase the vast majority of Economic activity is due to private industries. If the exact same economic activities were done by governments like they are in socialist countries the pollution would be worse. Also it was the Canadian military I was speaking of. This should have been clear by my use of the words Canadian military and the province of New Brunswick.

2:04 Very good point; a rebuttal of the idea that there are political solutions the economic problems.

The US military dumps toxin into the water supply? news to me. The majority of pollutions in our environment is due to industry. Profit is not a good reason to pollute the commons. I can understand some military uses.

"Right of center" of what? If your tying to say that these countries were not what American conservatives were calling socialist during the campaign. Your wrong. When Obama was be called a socialist it was because they said he wanted to have policies like these countries. Do you deny that? Government run health care is not free market capit...
