U2 is great... or they wouldnt have had the success they have had.

But Freddie is way way ahead of Bono.

I have no problem with people thinking that Queen's performance was the best. But those going on about Queen and putting down U2 in the process are idiots. With everything that was on the line for U2, they (really Bono) could've played it safe and done their three songs and gotten the hell off the stage. But Bono took a major chance (angering the rest of the band) and showed that he could be epic and intimate in one song, and turned millions of people into fans that day.

You're so right. Alot of people bitch about Queens performance at Live Aid being chosen as best live performance in modern music but the ones complaining probably never saw Queen live. Apart from consumate professionalism, they had an energy and communication with the audience that made them THE "must see live" band. The only ones I've ever seen that came close were the Rolling Stones.

Most of the artists that day at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert really did Freddie proud, but none so much as George Michael when he did "Somebody to Love". At the end Brian looks pretty choked up and I can see (and hear) why. A great rendition of a classic Queen song!
