Much of Mike Patton's career has been about testing the boundaries of rock, metal, and a myriad of other genres. Even though some of his extremes might not be appealing to most listeners, you have to admire him for his dedication and talent. And he also makes some amazing music.

Exactly! It is art, and not all art is supposed to be easily understood or easily palitable, and definately not supposed to be the expected. Some of the most genius artists are the ones who are initially hated, misunderstood or underestimated. Also, not everthing has to have a beat people can dance or headbang to.
