We send humans to die in wars for much less, and we're worried about caribou?

Maybe its equally all our faults for supporting subsidies and market regulations that perpetuate their grasp on non-renewable fuels. Oil profits are what they are, not because we're being ripped off, but because they sell a commodity with intrinsic value. Blame inflation for the numbers that Shell, BP, and Exxon-Mobil are posting.

please don't label the current brand of Republicanism as conservative. They are anything but. Call them neo-cons. Theres an incredible rift between true conservatives and neo-cons.

Didn't mean to offend anyone, thanks for replying.

or maybe they're subsidized and therefore don't have a real INCENTIVE to switch to renewable sources. if the market were allowed to work unfettered, without layers and layers of government-created pro-corporate regulation and other market interferences, renewable sources would emerge to respond to people's demand.

We need to stop using oil because it isnt a good fuel source and causes war. I do not buy into doomsday global warming though.
blunt1984 (April 29, 2008 at 8:56 pm)
LoL-I'm not a big fan of the oil companies either, but if the environmentalists didn't block new oil refineries from being built in the U.S.(for the last 30 years), block us for drilling for our own oil on American land, and block us from building nuclear power plants, we wouldn't be in the energy mess that we're in today.
Jacomus7 (May 1, 2008 at 4:09 am)
I completely agree. Nuclear power is a safe, and environmentally not too shabby an option. Tragic that the "environmentalists" resist development like this. Even Green Peace founder Patrick Moore wants nothing to do with them. We see what happens when "environmentalists" unabatedly get what they want with the current food crisis, largely due to biogas production.

Most people are just reactionary they do not think ahead or are just selfish. Not to mention ignorant of many things.

Exxon can solve this problem if you let them.
