Egypt's women footballers - 27 Jul 07

Back

The women's game in the Middle East has been getting more popular and more respected, despite criticisms from conservative quarters who don't like the idea of women on the playing fields.

Thanks to pioneers like coach Sahar Al Hawari, women are successfully playing at international level and also now refereeing the beautiful game.

might i add that the guy towards the end was completely right about the values that some ppl presented as women's role merely for cleaning and cooking. Such views are archaic and are the reasons which halt egypts' social development

I'd love to see where in the Qur'an it says that women can't play football because of the headscarf?..I'm sure the guy that said that would also discourage women from gaining an education so they can't read for themselves and will be left to believe his lies which revolve around women serving him.
