I bet not ONE person on here can tell us what the Vietnam war was about, why the US went and what the US got out of it?!!?!!? And tell us all that without using any swear words!

Whatf it, well the whole of SE Asia we got out o isn't communist, so, there's a plus. If we didn't go in, we would have a bunch more North Koreas, and those are bad, if you don't believe me try and ask them, you can't because they aren't allowed on the internet. And yes Vietnam is Commie today but with their economy and lifestyle slowly Americanizing, that may change. And hey, if you get really mad, sooo mad you HATE America, feel completely FREE to leave, because that's it, you're free.

Heroes for what? Yeah, slap a medal on them for being dumb enough to enter military service that tells them to go abroad and wage an unjust war. They pissed their lives away for nothing. GJ heroes!
eviltreemonster (November 3, 2008 at 5:49 pm)
OK firstly, they didn't have any choice. Second, it doesn't matter if the war was just or not. Ultimately, all wars are unjust. They were a lot braver then you or I though and for that they deserve our respect.
Lindeman08 (November 4, 2008 at 1:48 am)
That is just bullshit through and through.
Every man and woman has a choice. They're not getting of the hook for killing people just because someone ordered them to. You can always refuse orders and take the consequences.
When it comes to war, it is not unjust do defend yourself. It is however unjust to attack a country and kill its inhabitants under false pretenses. And as a soldier participating in this just because someone ordered you to doesn't make you any less of a murderer.

As far as I can tell, stopping the spread of Communism is not false pretences at all. I think that They were quite right to take on thos e bastards. OK fine. Our guys did somefucked up things over there but that's war. War fucks people up and turns the world crazy. Besides, the VC hid behind kids and shot them.

Heroes for what? Unjust war? Example: Your family has the biggest house in the neighborhood, a group of people that are completely against what your house stands for go around killing all of your independent neighbors converting them to this new group. Your house steps in, sending people into one of your good neighbors houses to protect them and stop the group. Eventually, your house loses, but effectively stops the group from spreading into the other houses, or hurting yours. continued
spikesonthebrain (November 12, 2008 at 6:19 am)
In the process of this, a small minority of your house's men made bad decisions in the other house and there was collateral damage, sad, but to be expected. Upon arriving home, ALL your house's troops are treated like dirt because they fought for their house's values.
This is USA in the Vietnam war. And those HEROES fought so I can even be on the internet right now. That's why they're heroes, and the last comment box and a half is my explanation what you call an "unjust war"

Have a good day :)
