Flywheel Resurfacing
BackA pretty boring video about flywheel resurfacing... Hey, what can you say about flywheels, slap'em on the machine, turn it on, stand back and watch the sparks. Another John Edwards educational video stream.

We always have to use the brake lathe to do that where I go to school.

Is this to remove weight or just to resurface to make it flat? If it was to remove weight how much weight can it remove?
fiatnutz (July 9, 2008 at 4:16 pm)
This machine is for resurfacing only. Depending upon the flywheel, I use a lathe to remove weight. Some flywheels have weight in specific locations that keep the engine balanced which cannot be removed.

do u use the same machine for a two stage fywheel like dual mass flywheel?
kartracer57 (June 22, 2008 at 2:51 pm)
dual mass flywheels cannot be machined
fiatnutz (July 9, 2008 at 4:18 pm)
Provided the spring marcel is still serviceable and the flywheel is tight, yes I can resurface dual-mass flywheels with great success. Some that do come in are just dead and cannot be machined.
