Oh, and I should mention that it wasn't actually from the E.F. It turns out it was stenciled on and hung at a cabin on the lake as a tribute, and was lost about two years ago.

"The Big Fitz" was a freighter, not a tanker. I suppose freighters can "sing" when the the wind howls across their hulls, but Gordon Lightfoot is singing this song, not Edmund Fitzgerald. Song brings chills to me every Nov. 10th. Relative of first mate John McCarthy. Thanks for the post.
