lions & hyena behave alike in many ways..if it was a lion found on another prides territory it would attacked viciously by the other lions..if it was an injured lion/lioness a pack of hyenas would have killed it given the opportunity..

That Lion did the Hyena Cub a good favour, if you think about it.. broken back, in pain and was going to die very slowly anyways, Lion put it out of its misery quickly.
