Such a great song - really a great song and its a complex piece from a musical standpoint - too bad there are not more bands like Fishbone around right now.

Nope, never heard of any of those guys, namedrop more unknown bassists please. ;-) Kidding of course, good list, but why compare acoustic w/ electric? That's silly.

Since you have Flea on your list but do not think Claypool is any good, I can only chalk up your dislike to bias rather than an impartial acknowledgment of one's talent. Both are slap players, are in famous bands (I'm from LA, and I'm a big RHCP fan from the 80s), and have been recognized by other pros as being excellent musicians.

The reason I have Flea on my list is not because of his ability to play bass, but his ability to create memorable moments on the stage to allow him to have a wide variety of fans.

freekid sir, we are just gonna have to kindly agree to disagree. Claypool is no less a showman than Flea. I'd link you vids but you're not a fan so methinks that wouldn't sway you. Really though, they're BOTH great live, excellent showmen for sure.

I got turned on to RCHP in 1985-6 by some guys in our apartment building, they had great homemade movies of RHCP doing lotsa non-music stuff; horsing around etc. Very funny. They were also on a lot of drugs back then so that explained a lot of it.

Well here be for I completely agree to disagree. I'll check out Purple Onion. Assuming you as a fan know what the album is. I'll get back to you in a couple of days on it.

The reason for acoustics is because you said slap. which alone is a vague meaning for those who don't play bass. Considering the fact that slap is also played on both acoustic and electric I figured I'd throw them in there.
