Future Weapons Season 3 Premier Infantry Automatic Rifle

Back

LWRC INFANTRY AUTOMATIC RIFLE- Land Warfare Resources Corporation's new IAR has a dual-mode fire mechanism (combining a closed bolt semi-automatic weapon with an automatic open bolt weapon) that allows it to function as an automatic magazine-fed light machine gun when prolonged suppressive fire is required. Its ability to keep firing for hundreds of rounds gives it the edge over other automatic assault weapons. The weapon is fitted with a flash suppressor that pulls double duty as a sound suppressor mount.

The USMC are adopting this weapon. They only orderd about 2000 though so there will still be around 8000 SAWs in use. There is no way that this is going to repalce a belt fed squad machine gun. They are looking to replace the SAWs with the Mk 46. Still the LWRC model could be very useful

Yeah, no kidding! I laughed when he said he had the same volume of fire with IAR as the SAW! 200-round belt, or 30-100 round magazine. .
