CNET: Novint Falcon

Back

This is the new Novint Falcon device. It is a pointing device that allows 3D movement and gives the user feedback from 3D virtual objects. It is supposed to eventually cost less than $100

That's not a bad price for such technology. I can see where this could have great potential, not just for playing games.

"The hl2 demo"? it's not a demo it's a mod for hl2 called "Haptic life 2"
NickBlackDIN (October 11, 2008 at 2:16 am)
well, it's a "demo" for the joystick, not the game

OK, this thing is intriguing for shooters.
But I'm not sure how this would work with the accuracy and such.
Sure, the shooting might be QUITE (probably not pixel-) accurate.
But how about the turning + aiming, it must be a simila principle to the dumb analog-sticks on consoles.
Over-aiming and -turning all the time, maybe not as bad.
But it still seems like it would be similar to that, which I would hate.
