F-16 Falcon vs F-14 Tomcat Dogfight
BackAir Force F16 fighter jet (technically an F16N---denoting it was sold to the Navy---but this aircraft is mainly used by the USAF rather than Navy) vs the F14 Navy Aircraft.
Instructors are piloting the F-16, students are in the F-14s. Enjoy =)

The bottom line is that, unless aircraft like the F-14D continue to be on board, U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, Despite all protests to the contrary, with regard to standoff munitions and precision guided weapons, our carrier battle forces will not have the pulverizing power of their 1980s. When that time arrives, it will be the beginning of the end for carrier forces as we know them today and the end of their rapid availability to the President in times of need.

The F-14 was retired by the USN in 2006.

amarshall, have you read any of the specs on the f35?? blows the f14 out of the water in every way.

Correct FW2006. In fact, just to throw something a bit different in there for our dumb friend, if anything, the aircraft carrier will disappear. At least in its current format and design. They're becoming way too expensive, theyre way too big and becoming more and more a sitting duck regardless of the fleet around it. Carrier against carrier battles are no longer since WW2 and the range, payload and geographical positioning of land based planes is rendering them obselete.

The aircraft carrier is the center of naval power theses days. It won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Believe me.

What do you really know about Naval Warfare? sitting duck for who? there are so many layers of defense you must get through to touch an aircraft carrier. you must be an army puke

You'll have to come up with a better argument than that favioalex. Just cos you said so is not good enough for any of us with a brain.
favioalex (June 27, 2008 at 11:44 pm)

they dumped f14 cuz they cost a lot of money in maintenance and required at least 100 man hours in between flights to keep them up, the navy dumped the f14s because they decided to go a cheaper route....>>
Jimderkaisser (June 27, 2008 at 2:53 am)
how much time of maintenance..canada its the same problem with Seaking, with his 35years old service..aproximatly 30hours maintenance for 1 hours flight..its a crap..this time cost many thousand dollar per flight..when you aircraft or Vehicul take more 5hours maintenance you need dumped this one..to old and cost to many cash.
