It's just an affection.Men like girls and women like boys.You're right it has nothing to do with sex.The culture is paranoid but there are sickos out there.

Haven't you ever gone to a wedding and met your cousin's six year old daughter and fallen rapturously in love with her charming, coy, winning smile? It has nothing to do with sex. It's love and infatuation and joy and it's remarkable.

Then it may help to understand it. Gilbert's real name is [Ray]mond O'Sullivan, and Clair is the young daughter of his (I believe) producer. He's singing of the love and joy this little girl has brought into his life and to Clair, Gilbert is her "uncle Ray". Reading anything further into the lyrics of this song is demented.

todas tus penas me podrás confiar
pero a tu amor no puedo corresponder
y cuando seas mayor
quizás sabrás entenderlo Cler.

Yes, back then audiences were charmed by quality singing. Today "Artists" sway crowds with all sorts of stuff....none of which has to do with any genuine talent. I'm 42, my childhood years sparkled with the music 70's so I can differentiate between the sheer class of yesteryear and the gutless imitations we've listened to in recent times.

TRès belle chanson, mais je préfère "alone again";
