Great tone and not playing. The song itself isn't that hard to play, but to play it this cleanly is great.

I have heard many versions and covers of this song, but this original version is the best. Is this "Yakety Axe" or "Yakety Sax"? because I met a guy who said that the proper name is "Yakety Sax"

Yakety Sax was a Boots Randolf song. When Chet did a version of the song ,he called it Yakety Axe.

According to my Chet Atkins LP, it is spelled Yakety Axe. Probably a different name since it was in a different genre. Atkins had a passion for jazz and rock, but was kindly told to continue with country/western until he gained enough influence at RCA to perform whatever he wanted. Playing this song was probably an early outlet for him to diversify his talents to other genres, which he eventually did by the early 80's. He could have never done this song in the 60's when it came out.

Yakety Sax was originally written and performed by saxophonist Boots Randolph. Atkins called his cover Yakety Axe as a pun- "axe" is a colloquial term for an electric guitar

I was turned on to Chet many years ago by a guitarist from Texas whom I played in a band with. He always called Chet "Shit Atkins" because he was THE shit! Unfortunately, my friend is no longer with us either. I hope he's jamming with Chet now...

if there ever was a biopic on Chet, Harrison would be a dead on ringer.
