Hymn by Chaldean Catholic Priest-Martyr in Iraq

Back

Hear the voice of a Christian Martyr singing a hymn in Arabic to the Blessed Mother, while watching a slideshow of his funeral mass. Hear the angelic voice of Father Ragheed Ganni, a 35 year old Chaldean Catholic Priest killed on Sunday June 3rd, 2007 with three of his deacons right after celebrating mass at Holy Spirit Chaldean Catholic Church in Mosul, Iraq. The car of Father Ragheed and the three deacons was stopped by terrorists shortly after leaving the church. They were forced to get down from the car and asked to declare their conversion to Islam. When the four martyrs refused they were brutally gunned down with machine guns. Lord, protect all the innocent people of Iraq and all those trying to defend them. Jesus we trust in you and we are sustained by the prayers of your most holy mother to whom you never refuse a request. We pray for the repentance and conversion of Father Ragheed's killers and all other terrorists. May she who gave birth to us at the foot of the cross beg you for mercy. source: www.ankawa.com

The hymn translated in English is:

We honor you with hymns O Mother of God, you are the pride of the whole earth, because the Word of God whom the Father sent, chose to take His human body from you. The generations call you blessed, all nations and people's honor you and ask for mercy by your prayers. You are a generous earth in which plants of joy always grow.

Beautiful song and video, it gave me tears.

I was dissapointed in reading some of the comments on here, though. I'm an Iraqi and a Sunni Muslim and I see Jews and Christians as my brothers and sisters who worship the same God. That's all there is to it...so I don't see why people are fighting on here. Anyway, take care...

But you would die for other things with which you identify.I'm not talking about people seeking a violent death but there comes a time to some where the choice is between 2 things even if you werent seeking the situation and lived in peace. If you are peacefully driving & minding your own business & someone with a gun,who you did not ask for or seek to attract, gets you out of your car & says will you renounce those things you hold most dear to you,the alternative being death, what would u choose?
