My mother who was born in Grangemouth and lived in Dumbarton most of childhood went to marry a Dutchman and lived in Holland until she past away at 79 years ,was then cremated and we had to play this song as she loved it,my 3 sisters brought her ashes back to Scotland and she was strewn out at Luss Loch Lomond.May she rest in peace

well, bagpipes are trditional, but i think some other instruments would express the song better...for example with a choir of trombones, trumpets and so on ..that would sounds great...experience :-P

I love the version with the bagpipes, but I also think that the version of an orchestra is even better.
We're playing it with trombones and trumpets. It sounds really great.
