I have been a reader for about 3 years. The cards to help in many situations.I believe that the cards have energy of their own. I've had the same cards come up in the same position even when I shuffle more than adequately.I believe it takes practice with using intuition to feel out the situaton. It's all a mix of the placebo effect, the reader's ability and the cards themselves.

Bantu- Tarot cards work in many ways. One of the most obvious is somewhat comparable to a placebo. The querrent and reader see what they want to see. You can bring up almost any card and by wording the information the card gives just right you will 95% have the client agreeing with it.
This doesn't make the Tarot a bunch of BS though. It is benificial to the client as it allows them to see from a different perspective and it gives them some thought on the situation.

Thank you Sareenn. You have at least provided a plausible hint at an explanation on how the Tarot may work for some people. The placebo effect is a well researched and documented phenomenon. There is much evidence to show that the Human mind can gain control over the frailties of the Human body!

No idea where the comment I posted to this went, but here it goes again.
There are many theories to how it works, and no one theory is more correct than another. You know what? This holds true for much of science and math as well ;). Going to write that off now, too?
You are a skeptic that has no open mind about the subject. I feel no need to explain nor no need to try to convice otherwise. I know what I know and I see what I see. I don't have the need to convince anyone.

The fundamental difference between scientific theories and theories of how the Tarot works is EVIDENCE. There is no credible EVIDENCE to back up any of the theories on how the Tarot works, whereas every credible scientific theory has EVIDENCE to substantiate it's claims.
To suggest that I, as a skeptic, have "no open mind" about the subject suggests to me that you didn't even bother to read my post (or maybe you believed what you wanted to believe!!).

There's evidence that tarot cards work, but you obviously don't want to take it into account

I'm getting bored with this...........to repeat, there is not one single shred of CREDIBLE evidence to back up the theory that some random images on bits of card, somehow arrange themselves in a way so as to predict future events (it is utter madness to suggest that it does).
You have the same mindset as people who believe in fairies, elves, gremlins and other such nonsense...........wake up!!!! This is reality. It is all BS made up by people who want to gain something from it.

I see what I see and know what I know. I feel no need to "prove" anything to you because you obviously don't care or want to care.
Apples to oranges with mythical creatures and tarot. Let's make some real comparisons next time ;). No one has ever caught a fairy, but people HAVE laid cards out and accuratly predicted future events and helped others.
