This was a great era, yet as the flag on the tank shows, it was also an era of wasted life. Poor Iran had just gone through an overthrow of their Monarchy which had lasted almost 3 milleniums, and saw the execution of love and life. In this midst and confusion, Iraq launched a surprise full scale invasion of Iran. These songs bring memories of youth but also behind them in another dimension of injustice and pain and confusion. Yet it is the joy of life even when low that endures nevertheless.
