Bluejack11 that was perfectly stated. I think that we need to stop worrying about Hollywood and their praise. Latinos have the Latin Grammys. So why can we pursue our own acclaim and respect from one another? Hollywood is driven by economics and prejudice period. We have come so far, but have a long road to go. Denzel did win the supporting Oscar for Glory. Sidney Poitier was the first black male to win for Lillies of the Field in 1963. We cannot wait for Hollywood to show consistent respect.

They played this song on T.V.,...about a week ago, on this show that was about trying to encourage all the African Americans to vote (for Obama)! They also played a song called "I Can", by Nas...

TeflonMaster, you obviously don't know what Jada is talkin about. Denzel got an oscer for being a villian in Training Day, rather than getting an oscer for being a hero in most of his other movies

Most actors win for villainous roles. I don't see the problem. And the thing is Denzel won an Oscar before Training Day, playing in the best war movie ever Glory.

Teflonmaster, the line about Denzel Washington is to point out that it took him a role as a villain in Training Day to finally win an Oscar (unlike when he was cast as a hero/icon in Glory and Malcolm X, which he was an Oscar nominee for each time), pointing out racial bias in Hollywood film roles
