I know, in "Japan" they use it a lot. It's practical, tactical, skillful, and scientifically reallistic. One trains it with resisting forces stronger, heavier, taller, more skillful opponents in both competition and "randori". Only the "Tatammi and breakfalls save you, and tappin, of course!!

Judoka's reflexes are sharp and fast. Like any other thing, in life, the more years one does it, the sharper and faster they get. Doing free "randori" often and against all kinds of heights, weights and skill levels will enhance one's judo big time.

The police force on Kyoto, Japan used it as their base martial art. Sure it is usefull if even police can use it on the streets.

There's a clear disadvantage for the Judokas in the UFC. A "judoka" doesn't need gloves; even though you could perform some "judo" without gi, a judo player relies on catching a grip, yet the opponents wear no attire of any sort; in the real world people are clothed with whatever. Another big disadvantage is the fact that there's no "Concrete" as the ground. Because a good SMASH IS A GOOD SMASH. It's the equivalent to a KO, for the striker.

A good judaka doesn't just take you down; he could throw you ( toss ) with enough momentum, intense, power throw. The result on bare floor or ground ( concrete ) could be crippling. No matts, also a choke or lock carried out fully means a snapt arm or unconciousness " CAN'T FIGHT LIKE THAT "

No martial art is better then the other.They all have diffrent moves,so none of them is better or worse then the other.

Sambo is the base that Fedor works from. I realize he trains Judo and is VERY good at it. But if you ask Fedor what style he relies on he will say Sambo.

Judo/sambo.........not exactly miles apart are they?? Fedor is good at both as was katsuhiko kashiwazaki
