I went through the USMC SERE program and my brother in-law went through the USAF SERE program. Both programs are something the average joe could not handle, however the USMC program is far tougher than the USAF. My brother in-law and myself compared stories and I almost feel like he went through a cake walk.

Do you have to do the water survival part in the regular Air Force (not the special operations command)?

in a way beanieJ is right, the course is designed to "teach" not "fail" at SERE reactions. It a hellish course, but very passable. The most varible part is the psycological aspect of the school. I had under gone some head trama surgery, and that didnt even compare to the feeling of SERE. Mental toughness is what it is about, as well as living in some of the most horrid conditions.

Dude, I'm a medic in the USAF. The only way to get past the EMT block the first time is to do what you're saying. Shit was hard.

hey ive done some army courses as I wanna join later in the year... I know what you mean, you thin to yourself before, Ok james you've watched enough 24 episodes and JI Jane movies, you know what to expect.. But still its amazing how scary it can be when your being interogated even if they're not getting physical. Still fuckin good fun though
